I have been a physically active police officer with over 21 years at SoJP. Skilled in evidence gathering and report writing, with strong communication abilities to effectively respond to emergencies and engage with the community. During my time served I have liaised with numerous departments within the police service and broader with Customs and Immigration, prison service, Honorary Police, Ambulance, A&E and other hospital departments.
My police career consists of initially two years probation on shift starting in 2004. In 2009 I volunteered to join a new department known as the Police Handling Unit (PHU) dealing with the prisoners in the cells on the day and running the investigation through its course. Most were finalised on the day with few being carried over.
The department then became the Reactive investigation Unit (RIU) Not only dealing with the daily prisoners but also any files passed from shift with a named suspect. During this time I received specialist training in interview techniques and further training in file presentation.
In 2014 I joined the Major Investigation Room as an investigator for the murder of Colin CHEVALIER. My role was primarily coms based, phones, SIMs, Production orders and liaison with the local telecommunications providers.
In 2015 I was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). I completed a three-week investigators course that included crime scene investigation and interview techniques.
In 2017 I returned to uniformed patrol duties. I was also a Police Support Officer (PSU) gaoler and Control Room Officer. I was a Tutor Constable throughout my career and in total trained in excess of twenty five officers. In my final years I was Acting Patrol Sergeant, Acting Control Room Sergeant and Acting Custody Sergeant. The last operation I was involved with was Op JAVA, investigating an island wide drug network with connections to the UK.
